Privacy Policy

ReelForge ("we", "us") is a video editing app published by Level 44 Ltd. This page describes what data the app and its render server process, why, and for how long. We try to keep this short and accurate; if anything here contradicts how the app actually behaves, please contact us at hello@level44.co so we can fix it.

What we collect

• An install identifier. When you use the app, your device sends a randomly generated identifier (UIDevice.identifierForVendor) so our server can remember whether you have a free, Lifetime, or Unlimited plan and how many videos you have rendered this month. The identifier is reset if you uninstall and reinstall the app.
• The video file you choose. When you tap "Generate" (after granting AI processing consent inside the app — see below), the app uploads the clip you picked to our render server. We use it solely to produce the finished reel and then delete it.
• Purchase receipts. If you upgrade, your App Store receipt is validated against Apple. We store the resulting tier and expiry against your install identifier so the upgrade applies on subsequent renders.

We do not collect your name, email, location, contacts, or device advertising identifier. We do not use third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.

How we collect it

• The install identifier is generated by iOS (UIDevice.identifierForVendor) and sent by the app to our render server with each API call in an X-Install-Id HTTP header.
• The video is uploaded from the iOS Photos picker only after you have (a) explicitly selected the clip and (b) accepted the in-app AI processing disclosure sheet. We never read your Photos library beyond the clip you pick.
• Purchase receipts are submitted by the iOS StoreKit framework when you upgrade; we forward them to Apple for validation.

Third-party AI services

ReelForge's edit pipeline uses two third-party AI services. On your first render, the app presents an in-app consent sheet ("How ReelForge processes your video") that names each service, spells out what data each one receives, and requires you to tap Accept and continue before anything is sent. You can revoke consent at any time from Settings → Data & privacy → Revoke AI processing consent.

Groq — speech-to-text

• What we send: the audio track extracted from the video you picked. Nothing else.
• What Groq does with it: runs OpenAI's Whisper model to convert speech to text and returns a transcript.
• Retention & training: Groq's published policy states that API submissions are not used to train models and are retained only as long as needed to process the request.

Anthropic — edit-decision analysis

• What we send: the text transcript produced by Groq. Never the audio or the video itself.
• What Anthropic does with it: runs their Claude model to identify filler words, pauses, and false starts to trim, and returns an edit-decision list (a JSON of timestamps).
• Retention & training: Anthropic's published policy states that API submissions are not used to train models and are retained only as long as needed to process the request (plus a short trust & safety review window).

Neither Groq nor Anthropic receives your name, email, Apple ID, install identifier, IP-derived location, or any user-level metadata — only the audio track (Groq) or the resulting transcript (Anthropic). We have reviewed both providers' privacy policies and are satisfied that they protect user submissions to an equivalent standard to this policy for the narrow purpose we use them for.

Where the finished reel lives

The final composition is rendered on our own server. The rendered MP4 sits there for up to 48 hours, then is deleted automatically. The source clip you uploaded is deleted shortly after the render finishes.

What we don't do

• We don't sell or share your data with advertisers.
• We don't track you across other apps or websites.
• We don't read your photo library beyond the single clip you explicitly pick, and we don't save anything to your photo library unless you tap "Save to Photos".

Your rights

Because we don't tie usage data to a personal identifier (only the install ID), there is no account to delete. If you want every trace removed, uninstalling the app and waiting 48 hours for the source + rendered files to expire is sufficient.

If you would like to request deletion of any stored data linked to your install ID before the natural expiry, email hello@level44.co from any address you control and we will remove it.

Subscriptions

The Unlimited Monthly and Unlimited Yearly subscriptions are auto-renewable via Apple's App Store. You can cancel from Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your iPhone. Subscriptions cancelled before the period ends remain active until that period closes.

Children

ReelForge is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone in that age range.

Changes

If we change how the app handles your data we will update this page and bump the "last updated" date above. Material changes will be communicated via the app on your next launch.
